About Turn UP the Volume!

The 2008 Turn UP the Volume! run and walk supports the initiatives of Ovar’coming Together which include education, survivor support and research for ovarian cancer.

Turn UP the Volume! Includes a 4-Mile competitive run, a 3-Mile Walk and a 1-Mile Walk. It starts and finishes at beautiful Victory Field, and will once again be organized by Tuxedo Brothers. Participants will be able to shop at the Teal Market and participate in a fund-raising auction. Post-race refreshments will be served.

Register by September 19

To guarantee a T-shirt, you must be registered by Friday September 19. Paper entries must be postmarked by September 17. Participants registered September 20 through race day will be given a T-shirt on a first-come, first-served basis.

Registration Fees

Individual Entry $20.00 per person
Team Member
To receive the team rate, there must be a minimum of 8 “paying” people on a team. Include your team name on your entry form.
$18.00 per person
Child age 10 and under $10.00 per person
Child age 10 and under, without T-shirt FREE
Race Day registration $22.00 per person

Registering as a team member

You must know your team name and include it with your registration to get the reduced fee of $18 per person. The team captain will be notified if team does not reach 8 members by September 19.

Note: There must be a minimum of 8 “paying” registrants to receive the team discount. A child registering for the $10 fee counts as a paying team member.

Collecting Pledges (donations)

Please consider helping Ovar’coming Together raise additional funds to fight ovarian cancer by collecting pledges prior to the race. Raise funds online at www.firstgiving.com/ovarcoming.

You may also use a paper pledge form (PDF).

Fund-raising incentives

  • Raise $500 – Each individual who raises $500 by race day will receive a $50 gift card to a local merchant.
  • Raise $1000 - Each individual who raises $1000 by race day will receive a $100 gift card to a local merchant.

Prizes will be mailed within two weeks of the race. Winners will be posted at www.ovariancancerIN.org.

General Information

Early Packet Pick-up

Individuals and teams may pick up their race packets on Friday, September 26, Noon – 6 PM.  at Victory Field, 501 W. Maryland St. – Located at the corner of West and Maryland Streets.  You may also pick up packets on race day.

Parking

Free handicap parking and free general parking is available in the Victory Field lot on a first-come, first-served basis. For a small fee, participants can park at the White River State Park garage off Washington Street, directly across from Victory Field. Parking along city streets is free on Saturday.

Race Day Registration

Saturday, September 27, 7:30-8:30 AM.  $22 per person. Remaining T-shirts will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Teal Market

Ovarian cancer awareness items and clothing will be available for purchase on race day.  In addition, a silent auction will be held.  Come prepared to have some fun shopping and bidding.  Ovar’coming Together will accept cash, checks and credit cards.  Outside vendors will accept cash and checks.

Survivor Photo 8:15 A.M.
Opening Ceremonies and Survivor Recognition 8:30 A.M.
4-mile Run begins 9:00 A.M.
1-mile Family Walk and 3-mile Walk begin 9:15 A.M.
Post-race awards  

Awards for Competitive

Run Prizes will be awarded to: 1) the first and runner-up overall male and female runners, 2) the first and runner-up male and female runners in each age group. Age groups for the run are: 11-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, etc. and 75+.

Timing

Runners will receive a timing chip that must be returned at the conclusion of the race. A $20 fee, payable to event organizer, will be charged for unreturned chips. Runners must maintain at least a 12-minute pace per mile. There will be a display clock to show times for the walk.

A listing of top finishers will be displayed at www.tuxbro.com later in the day.
