Ovar'coming Together

Ovarian Cancer Research Awards

Request for Proposals

Our Research Purpose

The Ovar’coming Together research awards provide opportunity for professionals to either initiate new studies or continue current research working with or investigating aspects of early detection and a cure for ovarian cancer. Only projects supportive of the Ovar’coming Together mission will be considered. Particular emphasis will be given to projects that are innovative, non-duplicative of other efforts and have the potential for national application.

Eligibility

Research proposals may be individual projects or part of a larger research project related to finding an early detection method or a cure for ovarian cancer. Applications will not be accepted from “for-profit” entities. The year 2008 awards shall be granted only to projects conducted in the state of Indiana by Indiana-based researchers. All research proposals will be considered, however, special consideration will be given to proposals dealing with:

  • Early detection
  • A focus for providing a cure
  • Genetics
  • Treatment
  • Issues related to quality of life

Portability of the proposed project will be a consideration in awarding grants.

One $10,000 grant and one $20,000 will be awarded. Grant proposals may not exceed these amounts.

Selection

Recommendation of award recipients will be made by a panel of carefully selected independent reviewers. This panel may include independent gynecologic oncologists, Ovar’coming Together Board Members, as well as ovarian cancer survivors. The Research Committee and Executive Committee of The Board of Directors will discuss the recommendations of the awards. Upon completion of the discussion, the Executive Committee will then vote on the recommendations. The Executive Committee reserves the right to give smaller awards than requested to multiple recipients.
