For each person diagnosed, cancer is a unique experience. How people cope after being diagnosed, during treatment, and afterward is different for each individual. One common thread in all people with cancer is the need for a good support system.
Support groups are one way to actively get support and become more involved in your cancer community. Support groups are often held in hospitals, churches, and community centers, and are typically led by psychologists, social workers, and medical professionals. Most groups are free to participate, but some may require a small registration fee or dues. Your cancer treatment center should be able to provide you with the names of local support groups.
Ovar'coming Together provides a monthly support group specifically for ovarian cancer survivors.

Numerous cancer support groups are held which are not specific to ovarian cancer. These groups support, for example, all cancers, all women's cancers, families coping with cancer, couples affected by cancer, etc. Again, you should check with your faith-based group or treatment center to see if they are aware of additional groups in your area.
*If you would like for Ovar'coming Together to help coordinate an ovarian cancer support (or networking) group in your city, please contact us.
